Proceeds from this event will be used to 'raze' and to 'raise' the roof - the Mt. Vernon Fire Station, located at 700 Old State Road in Tellico Plains, is in dire need of a new roof. The ceiling in the donated building has been leaking for too long, filling barrels with rainwater. Two layers of old roofing must be removed and a new roof installed, at an estimated cost of $30,000. The Fire Department is comprised of a small hard-working crew of volunteer firefighters, dedicated to protecting their community while forced to operate with very limited funds. Our Fire Dept is 100% volunteer! These guys give their effort and time for training, required classes, and fire fighting all for our benefit. Please join Judy and me in supporting our volunteer fire fighters. Also, stop by the fire station to see just how bad the fire station roof is. It needs to be removed and a new roof added asap! They need to raise $30,000 to have a new roof. Not to mention their equipment, truck, and gear are also old and in need of replacement. Please take a moment to read the above posting and encourage your friends to do the same.
